The 2006 AMD Global Vision Conference drew upwards of 200 leading technology thinkers, executives and trendsetters for a one-of-a-kind event that met and exceeded expectations. The 3-day conference featured a cast of speakers ranging from Nobel Laureate Dr. James Watson to Dreamworks visionary Jeffrey Katzenberg, who treated guests to a first-look at "Shrek the Third." Business and its evolving relationship with the latest technology took a front seat in discussions with such leading players as Wal-Mart CMO John Fleming, Nike Techlab GM Michael Tchao and P & G design guru, Claudia Kotchka. The depth and breadth of discussions ranged from the edgy, virtual world of Second Life to creativity at “the speed of thought” as viewed through the eyes of filmmaker Robert Rodriguez. Lance Armstrong touched everyone with an opening night fireside chat about his post Tour de France mission in the fight against cancer. NASCAR Chief Marketing Officer Steve Phelps was good-natured and utterly engaging in a lively interview with AMD’s Bill LaRosa. And performances by Sao Paulo’s mega-percussion and dance troupe Meninos do Morumbi added to the unique and off-the-cuff spirit that marked an incredible three days.
